What is additional insured?
A person or business added to your policy by endorsement so they receive protection under it — typically a client, landlord, or venue that requires it by contract. Being named as additional insured gives them defense rights for claims arising from your work; it does not give them your full coverage.
Why it matters
Client contracts ask for this constantly — a landlord, general contractor, or enterprise client wants to be named on your policy before work begins. Most E&O and GL policies can add them by endorsement, sometimes free, sometimes for a small charge. If a contract requires it, send us the wording and we will confirm the endorsement matches before you sign.
